Ted Lindsay is a Hockey Hall of Famer and a former Detroit Red Wings Team Captain. Besides contributing to four Stanley Cup championships, Ted won the Art Ross Memorial Trophy as scoring champion in 1949-50, and was selected to an NHL All-Star team nine times. He initiated the first National Hockey League Players' Association in 1957.
Ted was named General Manager of the struggling Red Wings in 1977; he turned the team around, and was voted the NHL's executive of the year. In 1991 the team honored his contribution by retiring “7”, his number when he played for them.
Since retiring from hockey, Ted continues to work as a manufacturing representative for three companies under Ted Lindsay Enterprises.
He has raised funds for the Michigan Special Olympics, Canadian Special Olympics, Canadian Alzheimer Association, and many other charities.
The Ted Lindsay Foundation is a non-profit organization established by Ted to assist research programs that focus on the diagnosis, treatment, and cure for autism.
